A video that allegedly depicts confrontation between the U.S. and Iranian naval forces in the Persian Gulf last Sunday was released by Pentagon as the top military official issued a warning against Iran on Friday.
Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said that unedited video of 36minutes in length was shot by a crew member on the destroyer USS Hopper.
Seen from the video, crew members were answering radio calls and monitoring the five Iranian boats. It also shows communication between crew on the destroyer and on the other two ships in the convoy.
The video was released after questions were raised about the origin of a voice from a five-minute footage warning in English "I am coming to you" and then, "You will explode after ... minutes."
The U.S. government has lodged an official protest over the Jan. 6 incident. Washington said, that five Iranian boats had harassed and threatened three U.S. Navy warships in international waters in the Strait of Hormuz.
But Iran responded by calling the incident "something normal" and said the incident has been resolved.
Tehran also accused Pentagon of fabricating the five-minute clip of the confrontation.
Iran's state television station on Thursday aired a video released by the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps which lasted for about four minutes and showed an Iranian commander in a speedboat contacting a U.S. sailor via radio, asking him to identify the U.S. vessels.
