Two roadside bomb attacks, including one targeting U.S. troops, rocked the eastern part of the Iraqi capital on Saturday, wounding two people, a well-informed police source said.
Two roadside bombs went off in the afternoon in a quick succession in the crowded Beirut Square in Palestine Street, wounding two people and damaging several nearby civilian cars, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
In a separate incident, a roadside detonated near a U.S. patrol in the Mudhafar Square, at the entrance of Sadr City neighborhood, the source said.
It was unclear whether the U.S. patrol sustained any casualty as the troops immediately cordoned off the area, refrained the Iraqi security forces from approaching the scene, he added.
The U.S. military did not confirm the incident yet.
Recent spate of bombings and gunfire ravaged Iraqi cities, including the capital, raising fears of a resurge of violence after a period of a relative lull in the past months.
