A spokesman for Palestinian government in West Bank said on Sunday the Palestinian Authority (PA) will not consult with Hamas on taking control of Gaza crossing points.

Hamas sized control of Gaza Strip last June after routing forces loyal to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Since then, Israel imposes a tight siege on the Strip because it refuses to deal with Hamas which became the ruling power in Gaza.

"We will not wait to get an approval from the coup-makers... we will shoulder our responsibility to run these crossings in Gaza Strip because this is the duty of the PA," said Riyadh al-Maliki, spokesman for Salam Fayyad's government.

"Everyone knows that... even when the coup-makers were in power, they agreed that the crossings lie down under the Presidency authority," al-Maliki added, referring to a short-lived coalition government comprising Hamas and Fatah.

Hamas has vowed to hinder any effort to reopen Gaza crossings if the moves were not coordinated with its deposed government which still controls Gaza.

But al-Maliki says Hamas will be blamed on the closure of Gazaif it prevented the Palestinian government's representatives from taking over the control at the closed crossings. He added that the government still waiting the Israeli approval on the plan of reopening the Gaza passageways.
