A magnitude 5.6 earthquake hit northern Luzon in the Philippines Sunday night, local television network GMA News quoted the United States Geological Service (USGS) as saying.
The USGS said in a preliminary report on its website the quake was recorded at 20:15 p.m. local time (1215 GMT) and traced the epicenter at 95 kilometers south from Laoag in Ilocos Norte, northern Philippines, said the report.
The epicenter was also some 107 km north from Baguio City, 138 km west-northwest of Ilagan in Isabela or 310 km north of Manila, said the report.
No casualty or damage has been reported so far.
The Philippines is hit frequently by minor or moderate quakes due to its location in a geographical zone in the West Pacific vulnerable to earthquakes.
