British Prime Minister Gordon Brown told an audience of senior business leaders Monday that Europe is the key to securing Britain's economic future.
He said Britain can withstand global economic uncertainty but needs to engage fully with Europe to ensure prosperity.
The prime minister emphasized the importance of Britain remaining in the European Union.
"We must remain fully engaged in Europe so we can push forward the reforms that are essential for Europe's and Britain's economic future," he said.
The British government has made this a priority to ensure the stability of Britain and Europe's economies, according to the PM.
Currently, Europe accounts for almost 60 percent of Britain's foreign trade, helping the country create a claimed 3.5 million jobs. Source:Xinhua
