The health of Indonesian former president Soeharto worsened on Tuesday after slight improvement on Monday, doctors said.

Doctors said the former leader had suffered from pneumonia with systemic infection in other parts of his body. The functions of his heart and lungs also downed with decrease of blood pressure, the head of doctors team Mardjo Soebiandono told a press conference at the hospital of Pertamina.

The doctor said that the most threatening for the recovery of Soeharto was the serious infection at his lungs and other part of his body.

Lung specialist Sutji Mariono said that the infection could slow the cure of Soeharto.

"The recovery become longer, the condition becomes worse. The works of drugs is not sensitive again. Those are threats. We must stop those all," she said.

"(The infection) occurring at old man with many disease will be very dangerous," said Sutji.

Doctor Soebiandono said Soeharto's blood pressure ranges from 90 to 110 per 30 to 40 mm hg, and his breathing was still assisted by ventilator.

Meanwhile, in Solo city of Central Java province, the preparation for the burial of Soharto has been conducted, Antara News Agency Wire said. Soeharto is planned to be buried at the same cemetery with his wife who had passed away.

The army is preparing five Hercules planes in anticipation of the worst development of Soeharto's health condition, Army Chief of Staff Leut. General Agustadi Sasongko has said.

"We have prepared five Hercules planes in Jakarta that could be used to transport a coffin, family members and officers who would be involved in a funeral ceremony," the Army chief said on Monday.

Soeharto had ruled Indonesia for 32 years before he was toppled by pro-democracy mass riot on May 21, 1998.

He faced numerous allegation of human rights violation and corruption during his rules, but in May 2006 prosecutors closed a criminal case against him due to his deteriorating health.
