Visiting U.S. President George W. Bush said on Wednesday that the Iraqi situation was more stable than before.

Bush made the remarks at a joint press conference after his meeting with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak earlier in the day at a five-star hotel here.

His latest comment on Iraq came a day after U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice paid a sudden visit to Baghdad.

Citing Rice's report to him, President Bush said that the security had returned back to the streets of Baghdad and the Iraqi situation is improving due to the presence of U.S. troops in Iraq.

The U.S. president also expressed the continuing U.S. support to the Iraqi people on the path of democracy, which has already begun in the war-torn country.
