Security forces Friday killed over 90 militants in two operations in the Pakistan's tribal region, an army statement said.
The army conducted operations in two different locations of South Waziristan tribal area after militants fired rockets at security forces, the statement said.
A convoy of security forces moving on a road from Jandola to Wana in South Waziristan was fired upon from Chaghmalai with small arms and rockets. Security forces retaliated and engaged militants with small arms and rockets.
Military spokesman Athar Abbas said the clash continued for one hour and the exact number of militants casualties was not known. However, it was estimated that 20 to 30 miscreants were killed, he said, adding that four security forces personnel received injuries and two vehicles were damaged.
In another development, militants started to attack Ladha Fort with small arms and rockets at 10:00 a.m. (0500 GMT) on Friday.
Athar Abbas said that a large number of militants gathered around the Fort and the security forces used artillery, mortars and small arms fire to engage the miscreants.
It was reported that 50 to 60 militants were killed and the rest of them were dispersed, according to Athar Abbas.
Gunship helicopters engaged two cars in the vicinity of Sipla Toi Fort in South Waziristan on Thursday and killed eight militants, another army statement said.
Miscreants also fired a few rockets and small arms at Ladha Fort last night and security forces responded with artillery and small arms, the statement said, adding that no loss or damage was reported.
