Two earthquakes were felt in New Zealand's South Island on Monday morning, but caused no casualties or damage, GNS Science said.
The first, measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale, struck Canterbury at 6:47 a.m. local time (1747 GMT, Sunday).
The quake, centered 10 km northeast of Hanmer Springs at a depth of 7 km, was probably felt in the town, GNS Science said.
A second quake was felt throughout Fiordland and western Southland just after 7:40 a.m. local time (1840 GMT, Sunday). Measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale, it was centered 80 km northwest of Te Anau at a depth of 20 km. Source:Xinhua
