Hungarian Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany's Chief of Staff Zoltan J. Gal will resign from Jan. 31 for family reasons, the government spokesman's office said Monday.
The premier has accepted Gal's resignation, the government spokesman's office said.
Adam Ficsor, currently a state secretary at the Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry, will take the post from Feb. 1, the office said.
Gal, 35, has played a major role in government communications throughout the past seven years. In 2001, he played a major role in promoting then Socialist PM-candidate Peter Medgyessy's campaign, and became Prime Minister Medgyessy's spokesman in 2002. He had been a senior official in the prime minister's office since 2004. Gal holds a seat in parliament for the MSZP -- Socialist -- party. He is a journalist by profession.
Ficsor, Gal's successor, is trained in economics, government administration and management. Source: Xinhua
