Visiting Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf met French President Nicolas Sarkozy Tuesday, winning pledges of support from his French counterpart.

"France will continue to provide its full support in the fight against terrorism, because France and the world have an interest in stability, unity and democracy-building in Pakistan," said an Elysee official after the meeting.

Musharraf began his 8-day 4-nation visit to Europe Monday in Brussels, where he met Belgian Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt, European Union top diplomat Javier Solana and NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer. His tour will also take him to Davos, Switzerland, to attend the World Economic Forum before finishing in London Saturday.
