Two policemen were killed and three other people injured in a bomb attack in central Baghdad on Thursday, an Interior Ministry source said.

"A roadside bomb detonated at about 8:30 a.m. (0530 GMT) near an Iraqi police patrol in the al-Andelus Square in Karrada district," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

The blast resulted in the killing of two policemen and the wounding of a policeman and two civilians, the source said.

One of the police vehicles was destroyed by the explosion, which also damaged several nearby buildings and civilians cars, headed.

Also in the capital, the source said that police patrols collected four unidentified bodies dumped in two different parts of Baghdad during the past 24 hours.

Violence and daily gruesome finding of unidentified bodies continue in Baghdad despite the announcement of the U.S. and Iraqi officials about a steep drop of violence as a result of a major security plan aimed at checking the insurgency and sectarian strife.
