French President Nicolas Sarkozy on Thursday wrote to his Polish counterpart Lech Kaczynski to express his condolences following a military air crash in which 20 people died.
"To my great sadness, I knew the tragic accident of the military transport aircraft in the airport of Miroslawiec," which claimed the lives of 20 Polish soldiers, " said Sarkozy in a hand-written letter to Kaczynski.
"The tragedy stirred up great sadness in France, considering the friendship between our two countries, and the close brotherhood of our soldiers in the international conflicts, especially in Chad," Sarkozy said.
The French president also sent his condolences to the families of the victims.
