Abbas, Olmert to discuss Gaza siege, running of crossings |

A senior official said Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will discuss the Israeli siege on Gaza, running of crossings and permanent status issues during their meeting on Sunday.
Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat told reporters a few hours before their meeting to be held in Jerusalem later in the day that the two would discuss the situation in the Gaza Strip and the running of the crossings.
"The basic point on the agenda of the meeting is the situation in the Gaza Strip. They will also discuss the permanent status issues and the issue of the crossings," said Erekat.
He added that President Abbas "will raise the issue of Gaza because what happens there is not only a deterioration and embarrassment to our brothers in Egypt, but also encourages Israel isolate Gaza from the West Bank."
On Wednesday, Hamas militants bombarded the cement and metal fence of the borders between Gaza Strip and Egypt, allowing thousands of Gazans to flow into Egypt to buy their daily necessities after Israel tightened blockade on the enclave.
The borders are still open on Sunday.
In addition, Erekat revealed that Abbas would hold talks on Wednesday in Cairo with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak "to discuss the situation in the Gaza Strip and arranging the entrance of the Palestinians into Egypt."
