Bulgaria will not be among the countries that will immediately recognize Kosovo when the breakaway Serbian province declare independence, President Georgi Parvanov said on Sunday.
"Bulgaria is working on a coherent European position on the matter," Parvanov said at a news conference that marked the first year of his second term in office.
Bulgaria's ambition is to have all the European Union members on Balkan hold one position on the status of Kosovo, because the problem is very important to Kosovo and Serbia, and the resolution achieved on Kosovo is necessary to guarantee the regional stability, stressed the president.
"Bulgaria continued to be a factor of stability in the Balkans and the Black Sea region and has declared its readiness to contribute to the pursuit of regional cooperation and inter-regional development," said Parvanov, adding that this will be in the focus of regional-level dialogue.
Parvanov also said the last few years have been seen developments outlining "a new prospect in relations" between Bulgaria and Serbia, and Bulgaria "not only declares but implements" its "categorical support" for Serbia's European perspective. Source: Xinhua
