Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani will participate in Wednesday's Republican presidential debate at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library near Los Angeles, one of his aides reportedly said.
The report squashed rumors of Giuliani's imminent withdrawal from the presidential race because of an expected disappointing finish in Tuesday's Florida primary.
Giuliani abandoned efforts in early contests in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina to concentrate on Florida, hoping success there would lead to nomination-clinching victories next week when 20 states hold primaries and caucuses on the so-called "Super Tuesday."
However, polls have indicated that strategy is failing. A series of polls have put Giuliani in a statistical tie for third with former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, well behind Arizona Senator John McCain and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, who are in a statistical tie for the lead.
Giuliani led in national polls for much of 2007, but began losing support following the federal indictment of an appointee as police commissioner, Bernard Kerik, and published reports that he billed obscure city agencies for security costs when he was beginning an extramarital relationship with future wife Judith Nathan.
