Sweden sent three Afghani refugees back to Afghanistan's capital Kabul on Tuesday and will send more back despite persistent protests, according to local media.
Last year in Sweden over 600 Afghanis applied for asylum but two thirds were rejected. Now almost 500 Afghanis are waiting in Sweden to be sent back to Afghanistan, the Swedish public broadcaster Radio Sweden said.
Sweden has been criticized in the past by human rights experts as well as Swedish local courts for sending Afghanis back to Kabul regardless as to where in the country they originate from, it added.
Dan Eliasson, the Director-General of the Swedish Migration Board, said that the Board already examined whether returning refugees have the freedom to practice their political rights and search for jobs and accommodation, according to Radio Sweden. Source: Xinhua
