Russia should be ready for global information wars, first deputy chief of Russia's General Staff Lieutenant-General Alexander Burutin said on Thursday.
In the future the victory in possible wars and armed conflicts should be won by abolishing the state's and the armed forces' government through information technologies, Burutin was quoted by the Itar-Tass news agency as saying at the 10th all-Russian information forum "Information Decisions for Security of Russia."
"In the near future the major goals of wars and armed conflicts will be solved through suppressing adversaries' state and military government, navigation and liaison, and through handling other information facilities on which the state's government depends," he said.
To this end, the great powers are working out new forms and means to conduct an information war. In his words, the development of information technologies lead to transforming the military potential and the state's political opportunities.
Traditional methods of the use of force are changing. "At present, the main role is assigned to technological and information advantage," Burutin said. Source: Xinhua
