A powerful bomb explosion hit a bus station in the central Sri Lanka on Saturday, killing 13 people and injuring over 20, the military said in a statement.

The military said at least 13 people were killed and over 20 wounded in a bus bomb explosion triggered off at Dambulla, about 150 km northeast of Colombo, around 7 a.m. (0130 GMT)
The ill-fated private bus was plying from Kandy to Anuradhapura when it was caught in the tragic incident.
The military has blamed Tamil Tiger rebels for the explosion. The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelan (LTTE) are fighting for a separate homeland for minority Tamils in the north and east of the island.
Clashes between Tamil Tiger rebels and government troops have escalated since a six-year truce was scrapped on Jan. 16. The two-decade conflict has killed over 70,000 people. Source: Xinhua
