Nepali political leaders have continued to give conflicting signals over the possible of mobilizing the army to ensure security during the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections scheduled on April 10, 2008.

The local media house's website nepalnews.com Saturday reported that Nepali Congress (NC) acting president Sushil Koirala said that he didn't see the need to mobilize army during elections.

Talking to reporters in Lalbandi of Sarlahi district, located some 100 km south of Kathmandu on Friday, Koirala said, "In the present situation, there is no need to mobilize army." However, he added that the army could be brought out in case of incidents occur.

Earlier, he had said that army can be mobilized based on seven party understanding.

Meanwhile, a senior Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) (CPN-M) leader has said the army can be mobilized to control the situation in southern Terai plains.

"If the situation demands, the army can be mobilized through seven party decision," Ram Bahadur Thapa "Badal" of CPN-M told reporters on Friday.
