Hamas will work with Egypt to close their breached border, a senior Hamas official said on Saturday on returning from talks in Cairo.
"We will work to close the border between us and Egypt. We will gradually restore control over the border, in cooperation with Egypt. " Mahmoud al-Zahar told reporters here in Gaza upon returning from Cairo, adding that Egypt will close breached Gaza-Egypt border on Sunday.
Militants from Hamas, which rules Gaza Strip, blew up the borders with Egypt on Jan. 23, temporarily breaking a full Israeli closure on the costal Strip and allowing thousands of Gazans to go to the Egyptian side of the Rafah border crossing to stock up daily necessities.
Egypt has been under pressure and taking to seal off the border since the breach. A Hamas delegation had travel to Egypt for talks on the border crossing.
