The Russian Air Force and Navy have successfully completed joint exercises in the Atlantic and Arctic oceans, Air Force Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Igor Khvorov said on Saturday.
"The Air Force and the Navy practiced various aspects of interaction, command, and support. Air Force pilots trained reconnaissance, the delivery of missile strikes on enemy vessel groups, air combat, midair refueling, and air patrolling," Khvorov was quoted by the Interfax news agency as saying.
Pilots flew over 100 flights using Tu-160, Tu-95MS, TU-22M3, A-50, Il-78, MiG-31, and Su-27 aircraft. More than ten airfields were used in the maneuvers.
All flights were conducted strictly in line with international air regulations concerning flights over neutral waters, without violating any country's borders, the general said.
"Air patrolling over the Atlantic and Arctic oceans, over the Black Sea, and in other areas will be continued," he added. Source: Xinhua
