Police in Afghanistan capital Kabul surrounded the residence of Abdul Rashid Dustam, a powerful warlord and top military advisor to President Hamid Karzai, and lifted it soon Sunday morning, his aide Mohammad Alam Sahi said.
"A large number of police surrounded the house of General Dustam in the wee hours of Sunday but lifted it at 10 a.m.," Sahi told reporters.
Dustam along with his close aides and colleagues were inside the house when police surrounded his house.
Earlier, police said General Dustam had beaten his rival Akbar Bay at his home on Saturday and police want him to hand over his arms to the government.
However, Sahi rejected the claim, saying Gernal Dustam as head of his party, National Islamic Movement of Afghanistan, and a high ranking government official has the right to keep armed bodyguards.
He described the move as a conspiracy by government to isolate political figures.
"It is an attempt by government to isolate political figure ahead of presidential elections," Sahi stressed.
Presidential election in Afghanistan is to be held in 2009.
