An American soldier was killed when his vehicle was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) in Baghdad, the U.S. military said on Monday.
The attack occurred on Thursday in eastern the capital, a brief military statement said.
The name of the deceased soldier is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, it added.
The latest deaths bring the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq to about 3,945 since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
