Three policemen and three civilians were injured when insurgents detonated a bomb to attack police officers Monday in southern Thailand's province of Yala.
The explosion occurred in front of a shop in Muang district at noon, according to local newspaper the Nation's website.
Police were quoted as saying that the three policemen were setting up a road checkpoint in front of the shop when the explosion occurred. Police believed that the insurgents detonated the bomb with a mobile phone.
The three injured civilians are all women.
About 2,800 people have been killed by insurgents in the three troubled southern provinces of Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat in the renewed violence which erupted in January 2004. Source:Xinhua
