A senior Palestinian militant was killed and three others wounded in an Israeli airstrike at their car that was driving near the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Lahi, medics and witnesses said.

Mo'aweya Hassanein, chief of emergency and ambulance service in the heath ministry of the deposed Hamas government, said that Aamer Qarmout, was killed and three others wounded, two of them in serious conditions.

Qarmout, better known as "Abu al-Sa'ed", was a prominent leader of the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC) in the Gaza Strip. The group mourned Abu al-Sa'ed's death, saying that "revenge will be so painful."

Earlier on Monday, al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades of Fatah movement, claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing attack carried out in the southern Israeli town of Dimona, in the Negev desert.
