Two members of the Egyptian security forces were injured in an exchange of fire at Rafah crossing at the Egypt-Gaza border on Monday, Egyptian security sources confirmed.

The incident occurred on Monday evening when Palestinians gathered at the Rafah crossing threw stones at the Egyptian security forces, the sources said on condition of anonymity.

Egyptian border guards launched teargas canisters to disperse the crowd and then exchange of fire broke out, wounding two Egyptian security members on the Egyptian side.

The two wounded security members have been sent to the hospital in the Egyptian side of Rafah town for treatment, said the sources, without knowing the casualties on the Gazan side.

Meanwhile, Palestinian witnesses and medics said one Palestinian was killed and three others were wounded in the shooting incident at Rafah, a day after Egyptian border guards finally sealed off the breached border fences.
