Palestinian, Israeli talks still away from final status |

The Palestinian National Authority (PNA) and Israel did not start deep talks on final status issues, a PNA negotiator said on Tuesday.
Commenting on a Monday meeting between Israeli and Palestinian negotiation teams, PNA negotiator Yasser Abed Rabbo said the meeting was similar to the previous discussions in preparation for the final peace talks.
Israel and the PNA resumed peace talks in December following a U.S.-hosted peace conference aimed at reviving the peace process after more than six years of suspension.
Meanwhile, Abed Rabbo expressed fears that the UN Security Council may issue a decision in the interest of Israel in response to a Palestinian suicide bombing in southern Israeli town of Dimona on Monday.
"Now we find ourselves as the assailants in front of the UN Security Council and I don't rule out that the council make a (punitive) resolution this time," said Abed Rabbo, reminding that the council recently failed to make a decision about Israel's blockade on the Gaza Strip.
He also reiterated PNA's stance that there will be no talks with Islamic Hamas movement unless it abandons its control over the Gaza Strip.
