A gas explosion killed two people at an apartment building in southern Russia's Krasnodar region early Friday, RIA news agency reported.
Rescuers recovered the body of a 20-year-old man at 10:20 a.m. local time (0720 GMT), three hours after the body of a 61-year-oldwoman was pulled out from the debris, RIA cited a local emergencies official as saying.
Death toll could continue to rise as eyewitnesses claimed that another woman could have been in the building at the time of the blast.
The explosion, which occurred at about 5:00 a.m. Moscow time (0200 GMT) destroyed three apartments in a two-story residential building.
Preliminary reports showed that the blast was caused by a gas leak but did not result in a fire. Some 15 people have been temporarily left homeless.
