An aircraft of a Myanmar private airline, the Air Bagan, met with an accident Tuesday afternoon, overrunning the runway in Putao, a border town in northernmost Kachin state, when taking off at the airport but no passenger was injured, according to airline sources.

With about 50 passengers including four foreigners on board, the aircraft of ATR type met with the mishap out of engine failure when ascending on its domestic flight from Putao to Mandalay at about 01:30 p.m. local times, the sources said.

The aircraft overran about 100 meters from the runway with its nose-wheel broken, it said, adding that three crew members were injured.
