Visiting U.S. top nuclear negotiator Christopher Hill agreed Thursday with his Japanese counterpart Akitaka Saiki to continue close cooperation for the development of the six-party talks on the Korean Peninsula nuclear issues.
The two six-party talks chiefs also exchanged their views over the current difficulties focusing on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)'s requested "complete and correct" declaration of nuclear programs.
"We shared the view that a breakthrough must be made," said Saiki, who succeeded former Japanese Foreign Ministry Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau Director General Kenichiro Sasae in mid January and naturally took the post in the nuclear talks.
Hill, the U.S. assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific affairs, told reporters they also talked about possible actions after the DPRK's disabling of all its nuclear facilities. Hill arrived here on Wednesday for a two-day visit. Source:Xinhua
