A total of 25 agitators were injured in south Nepal during a clash with police on Friday, local media reported.
In Gaur, the district headquarters of Rautahat district, some 110 km south of capital Kathmandu, a clash occurred when cadres of United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) tried to seize the material carried by the Election Commission (EC) officials.
Hundreds of the UDMF cadres gathered to seize the EC material including forms and stationary when a helicopter landed at Chaur of Gaur, local leading media group's website THT Online reported.
Some 400 security personnel are guarding the election commission material at the site.
The bandh (general strike) called on by UDMF in south Nepal's Terai plains has entered the tenth day. Normal life there has been affected due to the bandh and curfews.
Local administrations of Banke district, some 365 km west of capital Kathmandu, and Morang district, some 240 km southeast of capital Kathmandu, imposed curfews on Friday as clashes occurred between the agitators and the security personnel.
Earlier, the UDMF, a newly formed front comprising Terai- Madhesi Democratic Party (TMDP), Madhesi People's Rights Forum (MPRF) and Nepal Sadbhavana Party, announced indefinite strike in southern Nepal with 6-point demand including an autonomous Terai with the right to self-determination.
Madhesi people are the Nepalese mainly living in south Nepal's Terai plains.
