German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier plans to visit some southeastern Asian nations to boost Germany's ties with the region, German media reported Saturday.
Steinmeier is expected to visit Indonesia, Singapore and Vietnam during a five-day trip starting Tuesday, German news agency DPA reported.
The minister will meet Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung as well as Secretary-General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Surin Pitsuwan.
Steinmeier, whose country held the EU-ASEAN summit in Nuremberg last year, has called the region one of the most dynamic in the world.
He is also expected to seize the chance to promote Germany's image as the host of the 2009 World Athletics Championships in Berlin. Source: Xinhua
