Rescue workers found two more bodies in the Amazon River on Saturday after a ferryboat collided with a transport boat in the early hours of Thursday, raising the death toll to 16, Brazilian authorities said.
In total, 92 passengers have been rescued, but four people were still missing.
The accident took place in the region of Vila Novo Remanso, 90 km away from the northwestern city of Manaus.
The Almirante Monteiro, a two-story wooden ferry carrying over 100 passengers, sank before dawn Thursday near the isolated town of Itacoatiara after running into a tug-boat coming from the opposite direction.
Saturday's search and rescue attempts were interrupted in the late afternoon.
The team of specialists will return to the area on Sunday morning to find any remaining survivors or victims. Source: Xinhua
