A man in his late 20s was arrested Monday night on suspicion of killing his mother, a second woman and a 4-year-old girl and critically injuring two other children in a shooting in Los Angeles, authorities said.
The shooting occurred in a residential area around 7:28 p.m. local time (0328 GMT, Tuesday), according to police.
"The suspect got into an argument with his mom," Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. Dan Rosenberg was quoted by the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. "He then went next door and shot the neighbors."
The suspect was detained when police officers arrived, police Capt. Michael Taylor told reporters.
The suspect has a history of emotional problems and violent behavior, according to the local KCAL9 television.
At the scene officers discovered the three deceased victims. Two other victims were taken to a hospital in critical condition. The surviving victims were a 14-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl. Source: Xinhua
