German Chancellor Angela Merkel has condemned the deadly attack in Jerusalem, a government spokesman said Friday.
The chancellor has expressed her condolences to Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and the families of the victims, said the spokesman Ulrich Wilhelm.
German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier called the attack, which was the deadliest in Israel in two years, a "criminal act."
A Palestinian gunman killed eight people, most of them students, in a Jewish college in Jerusalem on Thursday and wounded about 10 others.
