Prince William and Prince Harry, Princess Diana's sons, have welcomed the verdict of the jury in the inquest into their mother's death.
The inquest, which lasted six months, found Princess Diana and Dodi Al Fayed were unlawfully killed due to the actions of driver Henri Paul and the paparazzi.
The jury of six women and five men returned on Monday by majorities of nine to two joint verdicts of unlawful killing through grossly negligent driving or gross negligence manslaughter.
"We are particularly grateful to Trevor Rees (the only survivor of the crash in which Princess Diana died), and to others who came forward to give evidence - in many cases reawakening their painful and personal memories," the princes said in a statement issued on Monday.
They thanked the jury "for the forbearance they have shown in accepting such significant disruption to their lives over the past six months," and commended coroner Lord Justice Scott Baker for "his unfailing courtesy and for all the consideration shown by him and his staff, not only to us, but to all those involved in this hearing."
The princes expressed "profound gratitude" to all those who fought to save their mother's life.
