Israeli army detains 21 Palestinians in West Bank

The Israeli army arrested early on Thursday 21 Palestinians during raids on different West Bank towns and villages, Palestinian security sources said.

Israeli Radio Arabic service reported that the Israeli army forces arrested 21 wanted Palestinians in towns of Jenin, Nablus, Qalqilia, Ramallah and Bethlehem.

Palestinian sources said Israeli soldiers stormed houses in the West Bank towns, and arrested the Palestinians whom were all taken for interrogation at Israeli detention compounds.

Hamas movement said in a statement that President Mahmoud Abbas' security forces arrested on early Thursday seven Hamas members in West Bank cities of Hebron, Tulkarem and Nablus.

The arrests of Hamas members in West Bank have been going on since Hamas movement took control of the Gaza Strip in June last year. Hamas had repeatedly said it wants to take control of the West Bank too.
