The Bangladesh government doubled the price of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) on Friday, arousing complaints from CNG-run cabs drivers, bus owners and private car owners.
The government increased the CNG price to 16.75 taka (about 24 cents) per cubic metre but banned bus and truck operators to raise their fares.
The CNG price was last fixed on June 13, 2005 at 8.50 taka (about 12 cents).
The price hike came in the wake of an already overheated market of almost all commodities, particularly the food items.
