Malaysia's low-cost carrier AirAsia plans to offer air assistance to facilitate the transportation of aid to Myanmar which was hit by cyclone last week, Airasia said in a statement here on Friday.

The assistance includes sponsoring flights for aid workers and freeing up cargo space for transporting aid materials, AirAsia said.

"This will be a collaborated effort from the AirAsia Group and AirAsia X across more than 100 destinations utilizing our extensive network in all the ASEAN countries," it said.

For those who were keen to help including non-governmental organizations, aid and humanitarian agencies as well as members of the public from the region, they may send their requests to helpmyanmar@airasia.com, it said.

"Each request will be evaluated on a case-to-case basis and is subjected to seat availability," it added.
