An anonymous phone call to police Saturday afternoon threatening to blow up a metro station triggered panic at the facility, according the NDTV.

The police control room received the threat call at around 12:45 pm, saying that bombs were placed in the Chawri Bazar metro station and it would be blown up. Bomb disposal teams and dog squads were rushed to the spot to conduct searches at the underground metro station.

"We are conducting searches and simultaneously trying to identify the caller," a police officer told the NDTV.

The New Delhi Police received a phone call on May 15 from an unidentified caller threatening to blow up Sai Baba Temple in South Delhi, which later turned out to be hoax after intensive searches.
