An inter-ministerial committee headed by South African Safety and Security Minister Charles Nqakula will visit Gauteng hotspots where xenophobic attacks have taken place, the safety and security ministry said on Saturday.

The purpose of the door-to-door visits was to assess how government interventions were helping as well as to gather affected communities' concerns and give them feedback on progress in easing the violence.

The delegation will include Education Minister Naledi Pandor, Home Affairs Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa Nqakula, Justice Minister Bridgette Mabandla and Deputy Safety and Security Minister Susan Shabangu.

The areas to be visited are the Masakeng settlement in Garankuwa, Bakertoin and Gugulethu in Springs, and Kanana in Rabie Ridge.
