Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez's ex-wife has said she would seek to become mayor of the western city of Barquisimeto in regional elections in November.
Marisabel Rodriguez, 43, has been an opponent of Chavez's policies since the couple divorced in 2004.
"Democracy" has been replaced with "nepotism, inefficiency and intolerance" in Venezuela under Chavez, she told reporters on Saturday.
She will run for the opposition Podemos party, which has voiced support for her candidacy.
Barquisimeto, capital of the western Lara state, is also Rodriguez's hometown.
