Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has asked local relevant agencies and people to take drastic measures to eliminate acute diarrhea as soon as possible.
The prime minister has asked them to focus on monitoring food hygiene, disinfecting areas housing patients, and suspending use of raw shrimp paste in processing food, local newspaper Vietnam News reported Friday.
He also called for local people to eat cooked food, drink boiled water and become more active in preventing the disease. Those who show symptoms of acute diarrhea should immediately go to hospital for health check and treatment.
The prime minister has assigned the Vietnamese Health Ministry to disseminate treatment guidelines to hospitals and infirmaries, and cooperate with the Ministry of Information and Communication in publicizing instructions on the disease prevention.
Some 130 people from Vietnam's northern localities, including Hanoi capital city, Hai Phong city, and the provinces of Ha Tay, Hung Yen and Vinh Phuc have recently suffered from the disease
Most of the patients ate unsafe food such as raw shrimp paste and seafood salad.
