Premier of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Yong Il arrived here Sunday noon, starting his four-day official goodwill visit to Laos, to boost relations between the two countries.
"We will have frank and candid discussions with Lao President Choummaly Sayasone, Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh and other dignitaries about how to further consolidate and develop bilateral relations as well as other matters of mutual concern," according to the arrival statement of the premier.
Both the DPRK and Laos have closely supported and assisted each other in carrying out the common cause for socialism against imperialism, and the DPRK is immensely pleased to have a first-hand look at successes achieved by the government and people of Laos, said the statement.
Kim Yong Il, visiting Laos on Nov. 4-7 at the invitation of his Lao counterpart Bouasone Bouphavanh, is scheduled to hold talks with the Lao prime minister, and meet with the Lao president, who is also Secretary General of Lao People's Revolutionary Party, on Monday.
Kim Yong Il arrived in Laos on Sunday for his tour of four Southeast Asian nations, in the course of which he has already completed trips to Vietnam, Malaysia and Cambodia. Source: Xinhua
