Flooding killed 66 people, left seven missing and injured 38 in Vietnam's central region from Oct. 29 to Nov. 6.

Most of the victims were reported in the provinces of Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai, according to the Central Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention on Wednesday.

The floods also damaged some 94,400 houses, submerged over 18,300 hectares of paddy rice, and inundated many irrigation works.

Natural disasters, including typhoons and hails, killed 339 people, left 274 people missing and injured 2,065 others in Vietnam in 2006. The estimated losses totaled 18.6 trillion Vietnamese dong (nearly 1.2 billion U.S. dollars) in the year.
