Flooding in Vietnam's central region killed 72 people, left six missing and injured 42 from Oct. 29 to Nov. 7, according to the country's Central Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention on Thursday. Of the fatalities, 21 were reported in Phu Yen province, 12 in the provinces of Quang Nam and Binh Dinh each, and 11 in Thua Thien Hue province.
The floods also damaged over 141,000 houses, submerged nearly 20,000 hectares of paddy rice, and inundated many irrigation works and aquaculture ponds in the region.
