Indonesia on Friday reaffirmed that the case of the death of five Australian-based journalists in1975 known as "Balibo case" has been closed, a spokesman of the foreign ministry said.
The spokesman, Kristianto Legowo, said that the find of Deputy New South Wales Coroner Dorelle Pinch that Indonesian soldiers killed the journalists would not change the position of Indonesia on the case.
"Whatever decision or recommendation they had made, that will not change our certain about what happened in Balibo at that time," he told a press conference.
"So, it will not change also our position that it is a closed case," said Legowo.
Five Australian journalists were killed in Balibo in the former Portuguese colony of Timor-Leste during Indonesia's invasion in 1975.
The Australian side accused the Indonesian military involved in the death, but Indonesia said that the five reporters were trapped in a gun battle between two groups of Timor-Leste and said that the case has been closed.
After the invasion, Indonesia ruled Timor-Leste until an independence referendum in 1999 led to United Nations control and full independence in 2002. Source: Xinhua
