A senior official of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) arrived in Seoul on Thursday to discuss inter-Korean cooperation with South Korean officials, the South Korean Unification Ministry said.

Kim Yang-gon, 69, director of the United Front Department of the DPRK's Workers' Party, made an overland trip to Seoul with five other DPRK officials, it said.

During Kim's three-day visit to South Korea, Kim is expected to meet with South Korean Unification Minister Lee Jae-joung and Head of the National Intelligence Service Kim Man-bok, local media said.

The DPRK officials will meet with a wide range of South Korean high-level officials and those involved in economic cooperation and discuss implementing the summit declaration, Lee Jae-joung told the press on Wednesday.

South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun's spokesman Cheon Ho-seon said Wednesday that it still remains uncertain whether Roh will meet with Kim.

During the inter-Korean summit meeting on Oct. 2-4 in Pyongyang, Roh signed a joint declaration with DPRK top leader Kim Jong-il on expanding inter-Korean cooperation.

In mid-November, the prime ministers of the two sides held talks in Seoul and reached detailed agreements on inter-Korean economic, cultural, humanitarian exchanges.
