The Indonesian Air Carriers Association has strongly criticized European Union's extended flight ban against Indonesian planes for being unfair, demanding the government to take retaliatory measures, local press said Thursday.
The association's secretary general Tengku Burhanuddin urged the government to take firm responses, including a ban against all EU airlines from flying into Indonesia, reported leading economic daily Bisnis Indonesia.
The EU decided Wednesday to extend the entry ban against all Indonesian airlines, including flag carrier Garuda Indonesia and three other companies which were directly audited by an EU team earlier this month.
The Indonesian Air Charter Association (IACA) also urged the government who holds the regulatory function in domestic aviation industry to react against the EU ruling.
"We call on the regulator (government) to take an official stance," said IACA chairman Ari Singgih. Source: Xinhua
